Small practice is anything but small.
For six years, the Small Firm Symposium has brought practitioners from across New York State together around the realities of building and sustaining a small firm or sole proprietorship. We’re now looking for speakers for this year’s program.
Proposals are due Monday, October 5, 2026.
We’re seeking proposals in three broad areas:
The Business of Small Firm Practice:
Business development, fees and contracts, affordable technical tools, hiring and retaining people
Design, Craft, and Building Science:
Detailing and the building envelope, accessibility, how people experience buildings, existing buildings and residential work
The Small Firm Advantage:
The constraints and the genuine benefits of wearing every hat at once
You don’t have to be an architect. If your expertise is in business, law, finance, technology, marketing, or leadership and you can help a small practice, we want to hear from you.
Sessions are 90 minutes, presented over Zoom across four dates in early December.
