Crushing the Code NYS: Residential Building Systems

Right-sized mechanical systems are crucial for complying with the energy code. Crushing the Code NYS: Residential Building Systems prepares building and design professionals in New York State to comply with the residential mechanical, hot water, and lighting requirements in the 2020 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS). 

By the end of this 1.5 hour training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain compliance requirements related to right-sizing mechanical systems, along with the energy consequences of effective controls and setbacks.
  • Describe how the energy code limits energy waste due to ventilation. 
  • Identify the mandatory provisions for service hot water systems in residential buildings. 
  • Navigate the requirements for code compliant electrical systems related to lighting, solar, and electric vehicles.

Sustainability has been integral to Christina’s life since childhood, growing up in her native Germany. She has made it a focus in her career, both in professional practice and teaching. Her passion is overlaying the philosophy of Living Building Challenge, Passive House and other high-performance building standards. With 18 years of experience working at various architectural firms and as an educator, she is currently teaching at Syracuse University and has a few Passive House projects in the pipeline
