Crushing the Code NYS: Energy Code 101 prepares building and design professionals in New York State to navigate the requirements of the 2020 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS).

In this introductory session, students will learn what the energy code is, why it was developed, where it’s headed, and the different ways to comply. This training will cover topics related to both the Commercial and Residential energy code for New York State.
This training is recommended for architects, engineers, code enforcement officials, contractors, building owners and operators and students working towards a career in the building industry.
By the end of this 2-hour training, participants will be able to:
- Explain what the energy code is designed to do and how it relates to New York State’s broader climate legislation and commitment to energy efficiency.
- Recognize the interdependence of building systems and their impacts on energy code compliance.
- Differentiate between the various compliance pathways for the 2020 ECCCNYS.
- Identify areas for improved project communication and coordination to support energy code compliance.
