As extreme heat events become more frequent and severe throughout New York State, school districts are now required to evaluate and implement strategies to maintain safe indoor temperatures for students and staff. This webinar explores practical, low-cost, and low-energy approaches to keeping learning environments cool. Participants will review building envelope strategies such as improved insulation, reduced air leakage, and thoughtful daylight and window management, as well as learn when mechanical cooling upgrades—such as new HVAC systems or enhanced ventilation—may be necessary. Case studies will demonstrate how these measures support student comfort, health, and learning outcomes while aligning with district budget and sustainability goals.
