On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, AIA Members from across the state will gather in Albany for New York Architects in Albany – 2026 Advocacy Day to meet with lawmakers, staff, and legislative leadership to advocate on behalf of the bills, policies and values that are core to the profession.

This year’s state legislative and policy priorities include:
- Artificial Intelligence—Promoting safety and oversight for AI relating to design professions
- Climate and Sustainability—Expanding state access to federal climate funds
- Housing –Promoting the growth of housing, infrastructure and economic development by streamlining agency procurement processes and reforming the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA)
- Tort Reform—10-Year Statute of Repose—a fair, predictable, and reasonable period of liability
- Procurement & Delivery—Public and private procurement processes which value the open selection of architects based on qualifications
