Peter J. Arsenault Elected National Vice President of
The American Institute of Architects


Peter Arsenault, AIA

Peter J. Arsenault, AIA, NCARB, LEED-AP from AIA Central New York and past president of AIA New York State (AIANYS), was elected National Vice President of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), at its recently concluded convention in San Antonio, TX. He is a Principal of Stantec Architecture in Rochester.

As AIA Vice President, Arsenault will focus on creating sustainable communities, advancing architects in construction industry leadership, and welcoming a diverse and vibrant membership to AIA.

In commenting on the election, Edward C. Farrell, Executive Director of AIANYS, noted “Peter Arsenault will be an excellent officer for the American Institute of Architects. He was a great leader here in New York and he will do the same at the national level. The convention delegates made a wise choice.”

Arsenault is a current AIA national board member, AIA board community committee member, AIANYS board member, and ultimately served as President of AIANYS in 2004. He is also charter president of GreeningUSA, a non-profit advocacy organization focusing on sustainable communities and a member of his town’s municipal Environmental Council.

He has published articles in Architectural Record, technical journals and conference proceedings on sustainable design issues and has served as a mentor for intern architects, students and members of the AIA National Associates Council. Arsenault resides in Manlius, NY and is a 1977 graduate of Syracuse University.

The AIA has over 81,000 members nationwide. It is the voice of the architectural profession and the resource for its members in service to society.
