There are several social events held throughout the AIANYS convention offering the attendees a chance to network with members and non-members in a fun setting. The convention also offers the opportunity to honor those who have made a significant contribution to the field of architecture through the Honor Award and the Design Award presentations.
Host Chapter Party at Lyndhurst

This year’s host chapter, AIA Westchester/Mid-Hudson, will be throwing a party on Thursday, September 25, at Lyndhurst, one of America's finest Gothic Revival mansions.
Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, this beautiful historic landmark includes incredible views of the Hudson River and a comprehensive collection of original art. Enjoy great food, drinks and music in this beautiful setting.

2008 Prosurance Cup - Old Oaks Country Club - Old Oaks Golf Course
September 25, 2008
The 18-hole "Old Oaks" course at the Old Oaks Country Club facility in Purchase, New York features 6,503 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 72.3 and it has a slope rating of 139. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast/Colt & Alison, the Old Oaks golf course opened in 1927.

President’s Dinner and Design Awards Presentation
The President’s Dinner and Design Awards Presentation on Friday, September 26 will be held on at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This black tie dinner will recognize outstanding works of architecture by New York State architects. A cocktail reception will kick off the evening, followed by a sit down dinner and Design Awards Presentation. Each year the AIANYS Design Award recipients demonstrate creativity, innovation and imagination. These projects highlight the importance of the architect's role in society.
Opening Keynote Luncheon & Honor Awards Presentation
The Opening Keynote Luncheon and Honor Awards Presentation on Thursday, September 25 will recognize the AIANYS Honor Award recipients. The keynote speaker will be George H. Miller, FAIA, Partner, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects.
The AIANYS Honor Awards program was instituted to provide appropriate recognition to individuals who have influenced the profession of architecture in New York State. These awards reflect notable contributions, outstanding service, or specific actions taken by architects, legislators, or organizations who demonstrate a pattern worthy of distinction.

Closing Keynote Luncheon & Student Awards Presentation
The closing luncheon on Saturday, September 27 will recognize the 2008 AIANYS Student Award recipients. The keynote speaker will be James P. Cramer, Hon. AIA. He is the former chief executive of AIA National, Design Futures Council co-founder and chairman and founder of The Greenway Group.
The AIANYS Student Awards Program serves as a way of engaging and recognizing students in focused design inquiry, allowing them to share ideas on design concepts which improve upon natural and built environments, while positioning them to assist in advancing both the profession and community at large.
